Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo confirmed that Barcelona have reached an initial agreement with the highly anticipated deal, and that the final touches have been put on the terms of the contract between the two parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under Hansi Flick’s leadership, Barcelona successfully completed its new project, winning three domestic titles in the German coach’s first season: the league, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Catalan club began working to strengthen its squad to meet the demands of next season, first finding ways to replace players Hansi Flick didn’t rely on in his squad. Then, Deco and the German coach began combing the market for new signings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One position the club and its fans have been keen to strengthen, not just this summer, but for a long time, is the goalkeeper position. So much so that fans active on social media launched a hashtag on Twitter calling for German goalkeeper Ter Stegen to leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has reached an agreement in principle with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia and his agents for a transfer to the team during the current summer transfer window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joan Garcia will sign a five-year contract with Barcelona, \u200b\u200baccording to the newspaper, and will be paid bonuses for his participation with the Spanish national team if it occurs, the same clause that was in his contract with Espanyol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newspaper reported that the Espanyol goalkeeper will cost Barcelona only \u20ac25 million, the value of his release clause, and that he will make a decision on his next destination before next Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
