Referee hands Real Madrid an ‘undeserved’ win over Leganes (Video)

Real Madrid secured an undeserved 3-2 victory over visiting Leganes in the 29th round of the Spanish Premier League.

The match witnessed two controversial refereeing decisions: the penalty kick from which Real Madrid scored the first goal, and the second decision was the free kick from which Mbappé scored the third goal.

Marca newspaper reported that the penalty awarded by referee Gonzalez Fuertes to Real Madrid was undeserved. The newspaper’s refereeing analyst and former referee, Pedro Porro, explained that there was no foul committed by the Leganes player against Arda Güler, and that it should not have been awarded as a penalty.

As for the free kick awarded by the referee in favor of Rodrygo on the edge of the penalty area, from which Mbappé scored the winning goal, there was no foul involved and it was a completely comical decision because the Leganes player took the ball away from the Brazilian winger without making contact with him.
