Sudden departure from Barcelona: Hansi Flick gives the green light to complete the sale of the standout player

Spanish reports have revealed that a surprising sale is currently being prepared at Barcelona’s offices. It is said that German coach Hansi Flick has given the green light to proceed with the move, despite the player’s impressive performances in the latter part of the past season.
Barcelona is currently working on making limited changes to the squad ahead of the new season, with Deco actively scanning the market to meet Flick’s needs and strengthen certain positions.
However, before signing new players, Barcelona must sell some members of the squad to free up space in the wage bill and allow for new additions.
Several players have already been put on the market, including Ansu Fati, Iñaki Peña, Pablo Torre, and Pau Víctor. Additionally, the club has confirmed it is willing to listen to offers for key players like Ronald Araújo and Fermín López.
But in recent hours, a new and unexpected name has emerged on the list of potential departures: Gerard Martín, who delivered an outstanding performance with the first team, especially during Alejandro Balde’s long injury absence.
Martín stood out with strong performances in key moments, such as his display against Inter Milan in the Champions League, where he provided two crucial assists. However, this seems not to have been enough to earn Flick’s trust.
Flick believes a reliable backup is needed for the often-injured Alejandro Balde. In this context, the name of Alejandro Grimaldo has gained significant traction.
The former Barcelona player has a low release clause of around €15 million. His experience with Benfica and Bayer Leverkusen, along with his recent form for the Spanish national team, makes him a highly attractive option.
As for Gerard Martín, an appealing offer has already arrived from English club Wolverhampton. Barcelona is considering accepting it but prefers a loan move rather than a permanent sale.
