Everybody in Barca asks Laporta to close the signing that won’t be repeated

With the season over and the League, Cup and Super Cup titles already on display at the Camp Nou, FC Barcelona is looking to the future with ambition. Joan Laporta , club president, has made it clear that the team will move into the transfer market to strengthen certain positions and continue growing under the command of Hansi Flick . But there is one name that is starting to resonate strongly among Barça fans: Viktor Gyökeres .

The Swedish striker from Sporting de Portugal is one of the biggest sensations in European football. Having had an excellent season, he is currently leading the race for the Golden Boot, thanks to his impressive goal tally and his impact in the Primeira Liga. His performance has not gone unnoticed and he is expected to make the leap to a top-flight club this summer.

The price being studied for Gyökeres is close to 65 million euros , a high figure but one that many inside and outside Barça consider a bargain considering his performance, age and projection . He is a modern, powerful striker, with mobility and great scoring ability. A profile that would fit any big European team… including Barça.

For weeks, numerous fans have expressed their opinion through social networks and forums: they want Laporta to sign him now . They consider it a market opportunity that will not be repeated. However, Barça’s economic context forces them to prioritize. And, for now, the forward is not among the priority positions to strengthen.

Lewandowski continues, but…

At the Camp Nou they have Robert Lewandowski for next season. Despite his somewhat grey final stretch —marked by an injury that kept him out of the Cup final and the Champions League semi-final against Inter—, the Pole has delivered in terms of goals. Even so, the club is aware that they need to plan for the future and do not rule out looking for a replacement in the medium term.

In this scenario, Gyökeres would be ideal : a striker in full maturity, with experience in demanding leagues and room for growth. However, as the sports management acknowledges, the big obstacle is the available budget . Laporta has made it clear that money is not unlimited and that there must be exits before undertaking additions of this caliber.

Shared tastes, different priorities

The club’s management likes Gyökeres, and a lot . His name has come up in more than one technical meeting. However, the priorities for the summer are to strengthen the goal, ensure the continuity of key players and, possibly, shore up the midfield or right back . Only if certain departures occur or an unexpected sale occurs could the club launch a signing of this level.

A train that doesn’t pass twice

What is clear is that Barça is facing a strategic decision. If they don’t act quickly, other big European clubs could move in . Teams like Arsenal, Atletico Madrid or PSG have already asked about the Swedish striker. And if one of them makes a move, the price could go up or the opportunity could slip away.

For now, the ball is in Laporta’s court . The fans are clear: Gyökeres is a bargain that will not be repeated . Time and the market will tell if Barça can and wants to get on this train before it is too late.
